As a little 'side project,' I've painted a few extra figures this month for my burgeoning Scots Border Reiver clan. These figures are by Graven Images and purchased through Hoka Hey Miniatures (www.timelineminiatures.co.uk). The 15th century tower-house castles that we visited in Ireland were basically built along the same lines as those on the Scottish border, so I suppose I can claim the trip to Ireland as wargaming research for building a model Pele Tower. If only I could claim a tax rebate for it.
These blokes are intended to be Scottish reivers, but could easily pass as English reivers as well. |
I just used metal washers as bases for these figures |
The next phase of this little project will be to purchase and paint some mounted reivers. At this stage I'm looking at using Perry Miniatures English Civil War Scots lancers and Moss Troopers, and with Fathers Day coming up in New Zealand in September perhaps I should buy these as a present on line soon to avoid getting socks instead.
Until next time.
Great stuff there mate! I have undercoated and painted the flesh on my ones. Looks like I had better get my act together.
ReplyDeleteWell Rodg, you have a better excuse than me for not getting them painted....you could hardly get them done while spending two months holiday in the States visiting battle sites.
DeleteVery nice work. Hoka Hey do make some great looking figures.
ReplyDeleteHi Ray. I would have bought the Graven Images mounted reivers as well, but I don't like their horses. I'll certainly get some more foot figures though.
DeleteThese are very nice, characterful figures and you have done a great job painting them!
